Important Notice about waste discharge in Turkish Waters!
Local regulations in Turkey are stricter than Marpol regs. Discharging of any water rather than cooling water is prohibited and yachts can be fined by authorities. P&I will only cover the charges if the polluting was done accidently!
All discharge must be done by pumping out at one of the 30 stations sited strategically in marinas and harbours throughout the coastline. There is this new system called "blue card", a card issued and handed over to you by the harbour master when you clear into Turkey and digitally updated when you pump out your waste tanks. The Coastguard and other enforcement agencies can demand the blue card, read it electronically and see when tanks were last pumped out, what your holding capacity is, etc., You will need to consult your agent in this matter.
